Khar Zurkhnii Khukh Nuur or Blue Lake of Black Heart is situated in Tsenkhermandal soum of Khentii province, to the northwest of Tsenkhermandal town near the Tsenkher River. Located on the mountainside of Khar Zurkh Mountain, Khukh Nuur Lake is a conjoined freshwater lake. This picturesque lake is surrounded by mountains and lush forest bursting with fauna. In 1189, Temujin was crowned as the Dalai Ikh Khan or Genghis Khan on the banks of Khukh Nuur. There is a monument erected in honor of 840th anniversary of Genghis Khan’s birth on the shores of the lake. And there are total of 50 wood carvings depicting Genghis Khan’s family and generals around the monument.
