Archeological Complex of Tavan Tolgoi in Sukhbaatar

Archeological site of Tavan Tolgoi is located in Ongon soum of Sukhbaatar province. Burial mounds, Kurgan stelae, cave paintings and over 400 artifacts from the Neolithic or New Stone Age, the Bronze Age, the 13th to 14th century, the 19th to 20th century were found from the area. The tombs were examined by a research team led by archeologist D.Navaan and extremely valuable artifacts were discovered. And one of those artifacts was a golden ring with the Gyrfalcon, Borjigin Clan’s symbol, engraved in. Later, another archeologist doctor Ts.Turbat found further valuable artifacts such as a bone seal and gold plated hat finial.
